JERUSALEM (Worthy News) (Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday formally launched a national artificial intelligence initiative aimed at making Israel one of the world’s leading AI powers, declaring that the Jewish state intends to help shape the technological future rather than merely respond to it.
Netanyahu unveiled the program alongside Brig. Gen. (res.) Erez Askal, head of Israel’s National Artificial Intelligence Directorate, saying the initiative is designed to strengthen Israel’s economy, technological independence and national capabilities.
“We are in a historic window of opportunity, but it is a very short one,” Netanyahu said. “The future is not waiting for us; we are creating it.”
The initiative builds on a broader government push approved earlier this year encompassing advanced computing infrastructure, AI research, quantum technology, education and government services. Askal has estimated that fully implementing Israel’s national strategy could eventually require roughly NIS 5 billion annually.
Israel already possesses an unusually concentrated technology sector. Reuters previously reported that technology accounts for roughly 20% of the country’s economic output, while thousands of Israeli startups are involved in artificial intelligence and related fields. The government has also moved toward establishing national supercomputing capacity to allow Israeli researchers and companies to train advanced AI models domestically.
Prophetic Perspective: Knowledge Shall Increase
For students of Bible prophecy, the extraordinary acceleration of artificial intelligence, global communications and technological discovery inevitably brings to mind Daniel 12:4, where the prophet was told concerning the time of the end:
“Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
Daniel’s words should not be reduced to a prediction about artificial intelligence alone. Yet the generation now living is witnessing something unprecedented: humanity can travel across the earth in hours, information crosses continents almost instantaneously, and machines can process quantities of knowledge that would have been unimaginable only decades ago.
The striking reality is that Israel — the nation at the center of so much biblical prophecy — is now seeking a leading role in that technological revolution.
Whether today’s AI explosion represents a direct fulfillment of Daniel’s prophecy remains a matter of interpretation. But the convergence is difficult to overlook. We are living in an age when both “going to and fro” and the increase of knowledge are occurring at a scale unmatched in human history, reminding believers to watch the times carefully while keeping their confidence not in technology, but in the God who already declared the end from the beginning.
