LONDON/NEW YORK (Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s state visit to Britain was overshadowed by an in-flight scare and angry protests as he met King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Wednesday.

Air Force One, carrying Trump and First Lady Melania, flew unusually close to Spirit Airlines Flight 1300 over Long Island, New York, before leaving for London.

Controllers repeatedly ordered the Spirit cockpit to alter course. “Pay attention, get off the iPad,” one air traffic controller was heard saying in an audio recording.

Officials stressed the jets never breached mandatory safety limits, and the Spirit flight landed safely in Boston.

INSIDE WINDSOR WALLS

Hours later, Trump was welcomed at Windsor Castle with a full royal ceremony, including a carriage procession and a lavish banquet.

He praised King Charles and Queen Camilla as “friends of mine for a long time,” while both sides highlighted close Britain-U.S. ties.

The visit included signing a “tech prosperity deal” on artificial intelligence, green energy, and quantum computing, with American firms pledging significant investments in Britain’s infrastructure.

But outside the castle walls, the president was notably kept away from the public.

The Metropolitan Police estimated that some 5,000 people joined a Stop Trump Coalition rally in London’s Parliament Square, chanting against what they called his “fascist” policies. Smaller demonstrations were reported in other cities.

PROTESTS AND POLITICS

Jeremy Corbyn, a parliamentarian and former Labour leader now sitting as an independent, congratulated four activists arrested after projecting images of Trump and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle.

Corbyn said it was “very sinister” that “peaceful protest becomes terrorism” when legal demonstrations are curtailed.

The British government insisted security was necessary.

“We welcome President Trump as a partner and ally,” a Downing Street spokesperson said, adding that protests were “a normal part of democratic life” but stressing that police had a duty to protect both the monarch and the American president.

BANQUET DIPLOMACY

At the banquet, attended by ministers, business leaders, and eight royals, King Charles emphasized shared values and cooperation on ending the war in Ukraine, trade, and environmental protection.

Trump, known for improvisation, stuck mainly to the script.

He hailed the “special relationship,” declaring: “The word special does not begin to do it justice.”

On Thursday, Trump was due to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, the prime minister’s country residence northwest of London.

The two leaders were to hold talks and a joint press conference before Trump departs Britain, concluding his three-day visit.
