(Worthy News) – Iran has signed a $25 billion agreement with Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom to construct four nuclear power plants in southern Iran, the official IRNA news agency reported Friday.

The deal, signed in Moscow between Iran Hormoz Company — representing the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran — and a subsidiary of Rosatom, will see the construction of four Generation III reactors in the Sirik region of Hormozgan province. The plants, spread over 500 hectares, are expected to generate up to 5,000 megawatts of electricity.

Rosatom had earlier announced a memorandum of understanding for small-scale nuclear projects in Iran, but without specifying the number of planned facilities. The new deal clarifies Russia’s extensive role in expanding Iran’s nuclear power capabilities.

Iran currently operates just one nuclear power station, the Russian-built Bushehr plant, which produces around 1,000 megawatts. The new projects are intended to address the Islamic Republic’s chronic electricity shortages, particularly during peak demand.

The agreement comes at a sensitive time, just as so-called “snapback” sanctions against Iran are set to be reimposed by the end of Saturday. Britain, France, and Germany triggered the sanctions mechanism last month, citing Tehran’s continued violations of the 2015 nuclear deal, which was designed to restrict Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

Geopolitical Context

Russia has remained a close ally of Iran and sharply criticized recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities during the June 12-day conflict. Israel has insisted that Iran is edging closer to developing nuclear weapons, though Tehran denies seeking such arms.

In response to the sanctions move, Iran has announced it will halt cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), deepening concerns among Western nations. Negotiations with Washington to limit Iran’s nuclear ambitions remain frozen following the June strikes.

“This project shows our determination to advance our nuclear energy sector despite political pressures,” an Iranian official told state media.

The new nuclear venture underscores how Tehran and Moscow are tightening their partnership as both face escalating confrontation with the West.

Prophetic Significance

The deepening alliance between Russia and Iran reflects an ancient alignment foretold in the Scriptures. In Ezekiel 38–39, the prophet speaks of a coming coalition led by Gog of the land of Magog (commonly associated with Russia) joined by Persia (modern-day Iran), among other nations, in a last-days confrontation against Israel.

This $25 billion nuclear partnership is more than an economic or energy deal — it represents a strengthening bond between two key prophetic players on the world stage. As Russia provides Iran with the infrastructure to expand its nuclear program, the stage is being set for alliances and conflicts that align with biblical prophecy.

For those watching through a biblical lens, the growing Russia–Iran partnership serves as another reminder that the pieces of Ezekiel’s prophecy are falling into place before our eyes.
