ABUJA/NEW YORK (Worthy News) – U.S.-based singer and rap star Nicki Minaj brought her global profile to the United Nations on Tuesday to draw attention to the mass killings of Christians in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, where more than 7,000 Christians were murdered in the first seven months of this year, according to the watchdog group Intersociety.

Minaj, born in Trinidad and Tobago, appeared alongside U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, at an event hosted by the U.S. Mission to the U.N. focused on religious violence in Nigeria.

“In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed. Churches have been burned. Families have been torn apart and entire communities live in fear constantly, simply because of how they pray,” Minaj told attendees.

The rapper said she felt compelled to speak out “in the face of injustice,” stressing that her message was not political. “Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides,” she said. “It is about uniting humanity.”

Addressing her fans, whom she calls “Barbz,” Minaj added: “I will care if anyone, anywhere, is being persecuted for their beliefs.”

‘GENOCIDE IN CHAOS’

Waltz, appointed by President Donald J. Trump, called the killings “genocide wearing the mask of chaos.”

“There is a body of evidence that paints a very grim picture of disproportionate suffering among Christians, where families are torn apart, clergy repeatedly assassinated, and entire congregations destroyed,” he said.

“An entire faith is being erased — one bullet at a time, one torched Bible at a time,” the ambassador explained.

The event came days after Trump threatened on social media to send U.S. troops “guns-a-blazing” into Nigeria if attacks on Christians continue, and warned he could halt American aid.
