U.S. Forces Strike ISIS Targets Across Syria in Ongoing Counterterror Campaign

(Worthy News) – U.S. forces carried out five sets of precision strikes against Islamic State targets across Syria between Jan. 27 and Feb. 2, the U.S. military’s U.S. Central Command announced Wednesday.
CENTCOM said American forces dropped 50 precision munitions on ISIS communication sites, logistics hubs, and weapons storage facilities using fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing platforms, and unmanned systems. The strikes are part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, launched after a Dec. 13 ambush that killed two U.S. service members and an American civilian interpreter.
“Striking these targets demonstrates our continued focus and resolve for preventing an ISIS resurgence in Syria,” said Navy Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander, adding that operations are being conducted alongside coalition and partner forces.
According to CENTCOM, more than 50 ISIS terrorists have been killed or captured during nearly two months of operations. Among those eliminated was Bilal Hasan al-Jasim, identified as an al-Qaeda–linked leader with direct ties to the ISIS gunman responsible for the Dec. 13 attack.
The campaign comes amid shifting dynamics in Syria following the fall of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024 and Washington’s evolving engagement with the country’s interim leadership under President Donald Trump. U.S. officials emphasized that coordination with local partners will continue to sustain pressure on ISIS and prevent the group’s reconstitution.
