‘Islamic State’ Destroys Key Bridge Leading to Baghdad; Severed Supply Line

BAGHDAD (Worthy News)– A key bridge north of Baghdad, used by Iraqi forces as a supply line, was destroyed when Islamic State jihadists detonated a suicide truck bomb on Tuesday.

An Iraqi army source confirmed with AFP that the bridge, located in Samarra, was completely destroyed. The city is roughly 70 miles outside of Baghdad.

Members of ISIL currently control the city of Tikrit and the destruction of the bridge limits Iraqi forces heading that direction to go over the nation’s Samarra dam bridge, AFP reported. The problem with traversing over the remaining bridge is that it isn’t made to handle the weight of many military vehicles. — Source

A lot has happened in the month since then, and not just in Iraq and Syria. As a result, many important developments have not received the attention they are due. So it is high time we draw everything “IS” back into focus.
