Egypt: Mob of Muslims Attack Church

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

CAIRO (Worthy News)– Last week, about 20 armed men joined a mob of more than 100 Muslims from Al-Our village to attack The Virgin Mary Church, the only church for nearly 2,500 Christians.

According to Barnabas Aid, gunmen shot at the church while the rest pelted it with stones and cinder blocks. The mob also broke the windows of the church service building and burned a car parked in front of it.

The Rev. Makar Issa said he had repeatedly called the police to come and protect the church, but instead they allowed the mob to enter the village and attack the building with impunity.

I charge the responsibility of what happened to the policemen, said Issa. I accuse them of inaction, indifference and complicity.

At least six Christians were injured by the attackers, three of them seriously.
