(Worthy News)-- The failure of Hindu nationalists to pass a so-called freedom of religion law has been hailed as a victory for Christians and other religious minorities in India.

According to Barnabas Aid, Indian nationalists have long advocated for the implementation of a nationwide law to prevent Hindus from converting to Christianity and Islam. But similar laws in six Indian states have been used to falsely accuse Christians of converting Hindus to Christianity by force, or fraud.

India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to legislate a religious freedom law during last year's election. But according to the Ministry of Law and Justice, the central government does not have the authority to introduce laws that fall under the jurisdictions of the Indian states.

Although Home Minister Rajnath Singh argued for more debate on the proposed law, Navaid Hamid -- secretary of the South Asian Council for Minorities -- said attempts to implement a religious freedom law revealed the ill intentions of India's central government.

  1. The anti-Christian attacks have created far-reaching consequences for India in the world community.
The BJP Government was under some false notion that, since they got a decisive electoral victory, they can play the hidden agenda of religious card to make a national anti-conversion law to protect the outflow of the Hindus, especially the marginalized section of the Hindu society to other religions, especially to Christianity.

From the study of " New World wealth" out of the 13.1 million millionaires in the world, 7.4 million or 56.2% identify themselves as Christians, 6.5% of millionaires as Muslims, and 3.9% as Hindus.

India with her 1.3 billion population out of the 7.3 billion world population with the highest number of the poverty stricken people in the world, around 400 million with less than $ 1.25/day income is now faced with a greater challenge.

At the World business gathering in Hanovor, Germany, the Christian Business CEOs have reminded the Indian Business CEOs about the attacks of the radical Hindus against the Christian Churches and believers.

If India is expecting foreign investment to boost the Indian economy, India must display to the world in total honesty and truth that the minority religions, especially the Christians are in total freedom to worship and to exercise their fundamental religious freedom to share the good news of salvation through JESUS CHRIST. Else the big political promises of the BJP Government led by Mr. Modi would be turning like a totally false electoral promises.
