Muslims attack Egyptian church, Christian homes

By Joseph DeCaro

(Worthy News) – A mob of Muslims threw stones at a church and attacked four Christian homes in El Oula, Egypt’s Alexandria governorate on Sept. 20 after local authorities attempted to return stolen property to its rightful owner.

According to Barnabas Aid, the land was stolen from Christians by a Muslim family. But after a court ordered police to return the property, the officers were violently attacked after a local mosque announced that the police were giving Muslim lands to Christians.

“After the security forces fled, a large crowd surrounded [the] church and hurled stones at it,” said Christian leader Boktor Nashed. “Then they attacked four homes owned by Christians.”

At least two Christians were seriously injured in the attack.

Fearing further violence, Nashed said many Christian families had fled the village.
