Abortions could be curbed by US Supreme Court

(Worthy News) – The Supreme Court will hear a case next month whose outcome could limit access to abortion for millions of women across the United States.

In perhaps the most important ruling since the practice became legal in the country, justices may use the case to revise constitutional principles on abortion and to determine how far all states can go to restrict it.

The case focuses on the legality of two provisions of a 2013 Texas law that place restrictions on doctor’s performing abortions and the types of clinics that can adopt the practice.

The requirements state that all physicians performing abortions have to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the centre where they perform the operation, and that the clinics are equipped to a level that meet the standards of an operating theatre. [ Source ]
