Pakistan: Christians protest proposed sewage station

By Joseph DeCaro, Worthy News Correspondent

(Worthy News) – Christians in Lahore, Pakistan are objecting to the proposed construction of a sewage pumping station on land owned by a cathedral’s congregation.

According to Barnabas Aid, developers wanted to build the station on school grounds adjacent to the Cathedral Church of the Resurrection. But local Christians see the sewage station — along with its accompanying odors — as an affront to the sanctity of their place of worship

Cathedral authorities complained to the Lahore High Court, which then ordered the Lahore Development Authority to cease its attempts to acquire any of the cathedral’s property. In response, the LDA project director requested permission from the Bishop of Lahore to acquire some of the church school’s property on the grounds that the sewage station was in the public interest.

Instead, church authorities suggested that the LDA find a more appropriate place to manage its sewage.
