(Worthy News) - Evangelical pastors who prayed for President Trump in the Oval Office last week say they were fulfilling a Scriptural command (1 Timothy 2:1-3) to pray for government leaders and not engaging in something that "borders on heresy."

The heresy charge comes from Rev. William Barber, a rising leftist pastor from North Carolina who has become a national religious voice in speaking against Donald Trump during his campaign and presidency.

On Saturday, Barber told MSNBC's Joy Reid that he believes the healthcare reform promoted by the president is "hypocrisy and sin" because it allegedly transfers wealth from the poor to "the greedy."

In light of such policies, Barber said that faith leaders should not pray for the president but challenge him.

"It is a form of theological malpractice that borders on heresy when you can p-r-a-y for a president and others while they are p-r-e-y – preying on the most vulnerable. You're violating the most sacred principles of religion," he said. [ Source: CBN News (Read More...) ]

  1. A word to Rev. Barber who said that faith leaders should not pray for the president but challenge him:

Timothy 2:1-3 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;"

Let us continue to unite dear brothers and sisters in True faith. Be weary of false professions from the pulpit. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of Truth. Why? So we can test and prove that which is true, good and right in the sight of the Lord Jehovah. I'm not a theologian, bible scholar, Dr., Rev., Bishop or Apostle - I am someone who against all odds has the ability to type this message today. I have been pulled from the bondage of drug addiction, a cancer survivor and a former illicit lifestyle spanning well over 25 years. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty, no matter who He rests upon as long as they choose to accept Him. Proverbs 21:1 tells me that: "The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." Jehovah Nissi is our national banner. He turns the hearts of the leadership. Ask yourself do you believe what you read? Father, heal our national unbelief. Heal the church of America in these your American States. Restore the unity of the saints here in the United States of America. Breathe inherent wisdom back into the church of America. Make our hearts teachable once again. In Christ's name we pray, Amen.

  2. Jesus said, "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." Luke 6:28, and again,"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:44. I could go one, finding all the NT as well as OT commands (not merely advice to do so) but if they won't listen to Jesus while calling themselves Christians, it's like parable of the rich man and Lazarus. If someone will not believe the Christ, the Incarnate Word from God, there's nothing to that persons faith but lies and deceit. Have nothing to do with such a one. Do not even eat with him (that too is biblical). See, 1Cor 5:11

I'm not that fond of Trump but he has the same right to practice freedom of religion as I do. If I do not defend him on this, how can I expect him to defend my right to freedom of choice and expression on my faith? I daresay he gets to have some personal time in the Oval Office, bet he has (like) popcorn on late nights, coffee, and even phones his wife from there. So too, prayer to the God he believes in, by himself or with others of his chosing (as long as they pass Security, it's his business).
