Study Shows Link between Abortion and Breast Cancer in China

(Worthy News) – Abortion is widespread in China, due to the country’s One Child Policy, and now the updated, but hardly less restrictive, Two Child Policy. Reports have emerged of Chinese women being forced to undergo abortions or face harsh consequences, but to make matters worse, a study has now been released that shows a link between abortions and breast cancer in women, according to LifeNews.com.

Dr. Joel Brind, professor of biology and endocrinology at Baruch College of the City University of New York and co-founder of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute, notes that abortion has escalated in China and South Asia over the last few decades. Breast cancer in these regions of the world is also increasing. Brind also notes that breast cancer often takes 20 years to show up after an event that my trigger it: i.e. abortion.

In 2008 a group of scientists wrote in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, “China is on the cusp of a breast cancer epidemic.”

Brind posits that this increase in cancer is linked to the increased abortion rate. He cites a study conducted by Dr. Yubei Huang which documented a 44 percent increase in breast cancer risk among women who had one or more abortions. If a woman had three abortions, the risk for breast cancer was increased up to 89 percent. [ Source: Christian Headlines (Read More…) ]
