(Worthy News) - At least 120 demonstrators were arrested in Israel on Thursday as several thousand ultra-Orthodox Jews blocked a major intersection in central Jerusalem to protest against efforts to force them to enlist in the Israeli military like their secular compatriots.

A series of such protests in recent weeks has been spurred by occasional arrests of ultra-Orthodox young men accused of dodging military service.

On Thursday, several thousand men and boys wearing traditional black suits and hats took to the streets of Jerusalem, at one point blocking a key intersection.

  1. Someone forgot to tell them that the Rabbinate isn't a replacement for the High Priest and they are Kohanim anyway (unless an individual among them happens to be one). It is the Kohanim who are exempt for military duty.

By the way, we need an article on how the Kohanim are doing since a list and preparations are happening via those in that line genetically. I understand some can't be verified by their DNA because of adoptions way back not charted, but the rest, are.

How's it going for those guys? I have nothing against Torah students even, professional Torah Studying. But I could study Torah all I want and it's not going to make me a Temple priest(ess) either. If women are still being conscripted, men outside of the priestly lines need to be called up to fill the numbers first, unless they've got some other verifiable good reason (certain disabilities, etc). No one is preventing females who wish to join from doing so.

If Israel can't get started on having biblical values for those in the Land who wish to live by biblical, then who can? It's not right to make women forgo marriage and children, homes and families, to make war, while men who are not even in the priestly lines study and worship sages like it's being manly/godly. It's not. It's greed and gluttony of just a different kind and not uncommonly the adoration of some man who isn't the Messiah.
