More pictures of Xi Jinping replace church iconography in China
(Worthy News) – Officials in Jiangxi Province, China replaced a church’s sign with a communist party slogan and swapped out biblical paintings for a portrait of President Xi Jinping.
The True and Original Source of the Universe church’s sign now reads, “follow the party, obey the party, be grateful to the party.”
A few days afterwards officials confiscated the keys to the church, which is part of the state-sanctioned Three-Self Patriotic movement thought immune to Xi’s “sinicization” efforts to convert Christianity into an instrument of the state.
In Poyang county, elderly members of a house church were told their pensions would be cut off if they continued gathering in an unofficial capacity.
