Christian mother banished from home by Muslim husband in Uganda

(Worthy News) – A Christian mother in Uganda had to flee her home when her Muslim husband discovered she had been taking their 7-year-old child to church services after her recent conversion in May.

27-year-old mother of three Florence Namuyiga had been taking her 2 and 5 year-olds to church for months, but only risked taking her 7-year-old at the end of November, who accidentally revealed her newfound faith to her husband when her son began singing hymns.

“He arrived and pronounced words of divorce and threatened to kill me if I remained in the homestead together with my two sons,” said Namuyiga, whose husband had first beat her up and then left to stay with one of her co-wives for a few days following the discovery.

Namuyiga and her small children are now hiding out at an undisclosed location near a neighboring village, washing clothes to make ends meet.

“Sometimes I spend sleepless nights thinking on my future and that of my small kids, especially their school fees,” she said.
