(Worthy News) – A 65-year-old Iranian Christian man was sentenced to three years in prison by the regime for ‘insulting Islamic sacred beliefs.’

In addition to the first charge, Ismaeil Maghrebinejad faces charges for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic” and “membership of a group hostile to the regime.”

An original charge of apostasy was dropped in November, Maghrebinejad having converted from Islam to Christianity, which is punishable by death in Iran.

The main offense Magrhebinejad seems to have committed is operating a Christian Telegram channel.

Iran has one of the fastest-growing Christian movements, with local believers reporting that the 100,000 underground Christians of the 90s have swelled to numbers that some now estimate to be in the millions.
