(Worthy News) – The Israeli government is surrounding ultra-orthodox neighborhoods with police barricades as punishment for the unwillingness of the Haredi to abide by government regulations.

The Bnei Brak suburb of Tel Aviv, in which 200,000 Haredim live, was the first victim of the measure on Friday that declared what seem to be the last holdouts in the country against government overreach “restricted zones.”

“Bnei Barak is on lockdown as of this morning and police will prevent any movements in or out of the city,” said police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, as 4,500 elderly residents were also forced to evacuate and sent to hotels.

In addition to Bnei Barak, Elad, and the Modiin Illit settlement in Judea and Samaria, many Haredi neighborhoods in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh were set to be similarly locked down, with police permitted to use “appropriate force” against ultra-orthodox people intending to leave their neighborhoods.
