WASHINGTON (Worthy News)— Major U.S. media outlets say Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Donald J. Trump to become the 46th president of the United States on Saturday, despite the incumbent’s refusal to concede and with current investigations into alleged voter fraud.

The Associated Press (AP) news agency said Biden’s victory came as Biden crossed 270 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania.

The soon 78-year-old Biden will likely become the oldest president in U.S. history to lead a nation that he says is gripped by a historic deadly pandemic and economic and social turmoil.

Biden staked his candidacy mainly on his character that he says is different than that of Trump.

While rarely answering critical journalists’ questions during his campaign, he avoided explaining any distinctive political plan towards recovery.

He also avoided questions regarding issues such as the possible expansion of the Supreme Court and other measures that could impact the United States for generations.

Instead, Biden galvanized a broad coalition of voters around the notion that Trump posed an existential threat to American democracy.

The strategy “proved effective” resulting in victories in Michigan and Wisconsin as well as Pennsylvania, one-time Democratic bastions that had flipped to Trump in 2016, the AP said.

Biden was on track to win the national popular vote by more than 4 million, a margin that could grow as ballots continue to be counted, the AP reported.

Trump seized on delays in processing the vote in some states and alleged voter fraud. He said he would not concede as there was “massive” fraud.

The Associated Press and other media outlets described those accusations as “unfounded” despite numerous documented incidents.

His campaign team showed observers complaining about the vote counting and was busy continuing legal challenges amid reports there even dead people ‘cast’ ballots.

It was not clear how much these incidents impacted the outcome, but the Trump team seemed determined to find out.
