(Worthy News) – Apparent President-elect Joe Biden has announced he intends to reverse a number of pro-life policies instituted by President Trump, the Christian Post reports.

While the Trump administration is contesting the outcome of the November 3 election, world leaders and major U.S and international news outlets have recognized a victory for Biden, who is proceeding with his transition agenda.

An administration agenda published by the Biden transition team shows that the President-elect plans to “reverse Trump actions on abortion and reproductive health care, including reversing the Mexico City Policy, restoring funding to Planned Parenthood and contraceptive coverage under the ACA,” the Christian Post reports.

As the Christian Post notes, it is standard for Democratic presidents to rescind the Mexico City Policy: after the policy had been reinstated by their respective prior Republican presidents, former presidents Clinton and Obama reinstated it. The policy blocks U.S federal funding for non-governmental organizations that provide abortion counseling or referrals, advocate for the decriminalization of abortion or expand abortion services.

Biden also intends to restore federal funding to the Planned Parenthood abortion provider, contrary to the Trump administration’s “Protect Life” rule: the latter prohibits healthcare centers in receipt of Title X family planning funds from performing, promoting, or referring for abortion. Rather than comply with the rule, Planned Parenthood chose to opt-out of the Title X program.

Moreover, Biden’s team intends to restore the contraceptive mandate under the Affordable Care Act, meaning that religious employers may have to pay for birth control coverage in their employees’ health insurance plans even if this goes against their faith.
