(Worthy News) – The U.S. military has rushed to deny reports that it has blocked Joe Biden, who claimed victory in the presidential election, and his team from meeting with intelligence agencies.

Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller said the [Department of Defense] DoD and its transition leadership are fully cooperating with the Biden transition team. [They are] placing national security and the protection of the American people at the forefront of any and all discussions,” Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller stressed in a statement.

However, a senior defense official told reporters that Biden’s transition team did not meet with members of the intelligence community due to “a process issue.” The official spoke to the media on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters. The standoff raised doubts about a smooth transition of power ahead of the presidential inauguration in January amid concerns about growing Chinese influence.

China started targeting Biden and his team, a top US intelligence official warned at an Aspen Institute summit Wednesday. Bill Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said his agency had expected the Chinese to “revector their influence campaigns to the new administration.”

Evanina did not give any specifics but said the influence campaign was “on steroids.” It was expected to be an important headache dossier for Avril Haines, tapped by Biden to be the top U.S. spy.

Haines is the first woman named as director of national intelligence. The post was created after the September 11, 2001, attacks to coordinate the work of the 17 U.S. intelligence agencies.

Republican and Democratic Senate sources said Haines is expected to win confirmation – but not without some hard questioning about her role as deputy CIA director from August 2013 to January 2015 and her views on national security challenges, from Russia to cyber warfare.
