(Worthy News) – Christian activists say they are gathering at abortion clinics across the United States this month to sing Christmas carols and offer women seeking abortions a message of hope.

The Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League announced it would organize some 100 “Peace in the Womb” caroling events in the weeks leading to Christmas amid nationwide turmoil. “We will gather to sing carols and remind abortion-bound mothers and their companions that the salvation of the world came through an unplanned pregnancy.”

In the statement seen by Worthy News, the group explained that “Christmas is a time of reconciliation. Jesus was born to reconcile the world to Himself.” The Pro-Life Action League said it had brought the “Christmas message of peace and joy to the darkness of abortion clinics” for over 18 years.

“Many women hearing the Christmas carols outside have chosen not to go through with their abortions. We hope that every mother will be reconciled to her unborn child, no matter how difficult the circumstances. And we will be there to offer whatever help we can,” the group added.
It noted that abortion clinics remained open despite the coronavirus pandemic and related lockdowns.

“More than any other factor, it’s fear that drives a woman to seek an abortion. Fear for her future, fear of giving birth, even fear over her partners’ reaction to her pregnancy,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League.

“These fears have been compounded by the COVID pandemic and resulting economic downturn.”

PLANNED PARENTHOOD

Many events are held at clinics of the government-funded Planned Parenthood organization, the country’s largest abortion provider.

For the period of October 1, 2017, through September 30, 2018, Planned Parenthood performed 345,672 abortions, according to its annual report. That is about 40 percent of all abortions in the country. It was also an increase of 12,915 abortions from the year before, the 2018-2019 annual report showed.

Planned Parenthood, which received $617 million in taxpayer dollars over the 2028-2019 period, denies wrongdoing. It claims its most significant goal is always preventative care, whether through sex education, birth control, or family planning resources. Only if all else fails, Planned Parenthood says, it provides abortions to its patients.

However, anti-abortion activists disagree. “Even as the overall national abortion rate has declined over the past two decades, Planned Parenthood’s abortion numbers have increased substantially during this period,” Pro-Life Action League said.

“It’s particularly sad to think of someone getting an abortion during the Christmas season. Amid all the discord in our society, one idea around which all Americans can unite is the Christmas hope for “Peace on Earth.”

It stressed that “Pro-life advocates want to see that same hope extended to every member of the human family, including unborn children.”
