(Worthy News) – Continuing their reign of terror in Nigeria, Fulani militants murdered six villagers and severely injured many more in an attack in Ogun State Thursday, International Christian Concern reports. As the gratuitous killing of civilians by Fulani terrorists has continued unabated for years, Nigeria’s President Muhammad Buhari, who is also Fulani, has been heavily criticized for failing to keep Nigerians safe from the militants.

Two of the victims in Thursday’s attack were farmers who were hacked to death with machetes and then thrown into the Yewa River after bands of militants stormed the Owode Ketu community and attacked villagers, ICC reports. According to witnesses, the terrorists stormed into the community at about 5 am and began shooting indiscriminately, ICC said. The attack caused community leaders to close schools, hospitals, and businesses.

In a statement, House of Assembly member representing Ketu Constituency, Wahab Haruna Abiodun, said the Fulani had carried out the attack as retaliation against the work of Sunday Igboho, an activist who is trying to force the militants out of the community. “This was a reprisal attack by herdsmen as they came in hundreds following the visitation of Sunday Igboho to the area,” he said, “It is so sad that Ketu Constituency is bathing in the blood of constituents.

The Fulani Militia is the fourth most dangerous terrorist group in the world and poses a greater threat to Christians than Boko Haram. “They adopt a comparable strategy to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province and demonstrate a clear intent to target Christians and potent symbols of Christian identity,” the United Kingdom’s All-Party Parliamentary Group has reported.

In its report on Thursday’s attack, ICC said: “Please pray for President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian government, that God will give them the wisdom and strength to eradicate corruption in their political systems.”
