(Worthy News) – A radical Islamist has confessed to the June 11 murder in Uganda’s Mpingire Sub-County of 70-year-old Bishop Francis Obo, senior pastor of Mpingire Pentecostal Revival Church Ministries International, Morning Star News reports. A resident of Odapako village, Mpingire Sub-County, the bishop oversaw 17 churches and is survived by his wife, Christine Obo, and 13 children.

In the latest reported instance of violent persecution against Christians in Uganda, Imam Uthman Olingha told police he murdered Bishop Obo because the pastor was an “infidel” who turned Muslims away from their faith.

After being discharged from the hospital where she was treated for shock, Mrs. Obo told MSN that her husband was killed at around 8.30 PM when the couple was ambushed by a group of Islamist men as they walked home from a market. The men accused the pastor of causing Muslims to “blaspheme the words of Allah” by converting to Christianity. Before the murder, one of the men told the pastor: “Today Allah has judged you,” MSN reports.

Mrs. Obo explained to MSN that her husband had been active in sharing the Gospel with local Muslims, leading many of them to Christ, and then discipling them. “Some Muslims had earmarked him as someone who had been misleading their fellow Muslims and had been warned to stop converting Muslims to Christianity,” Mrs. Obo said.

According to Mrs. Obo, Olingha reportedly has no regrets about murdering her husband.“Olingha openly confessed that he can’t regret that he killed the bishop because he did it in the cause of Allah’s word to kill all infidels who mislead Muslims,” a policeman told Mrs. Obo.
