(Worthy News) – The Chinese communist government has begun indoctrinating kindergarten-age children against what it calls “illegal religion,” a term which specifically includes the Church of Almighty God movement, the largest Christian movement in China, religious rights publication Bitter Winter reports.

Bitter Winter learned that on October 23 around 100 children from kindergartens of the district of Jiaocheng in Fujian province were taken to visit the Ningde Science and Technology Museum as part of a government program of “preventive education” against “xie jiao” (religious movements banned as “heterodox teachings,” sometimes translated as “evil cults”).

Among other activities, the young children were shown movies considered appropriate for their “cognitive abilities,” whose purpose was indoctrination against religion, and the Church of Almighty God movement in particular, Bitter Winter said.

“We should remember that these are children of age 3 to 6,” Bitter Winter said in its report. “The Chinese Communist Party is aware that propaganda against “xie jiao and illegal religion” has not been very effective, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis, and several leading figures of the national anti-xie-jiao apparatus have been fired and severely punished. It seems that the new strategy is to indoctrinate 3-year-old children—before it’s too late.”

China ranks 17 on the US Open Doors Watch List of top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. Open Doors explains on its website that the Chinese Communist Party is intent on suppressing Christianity because it depends on a national sense of Chinese cultural identity in order to stay in power and control the country’s citizens.
