(Worthy News) – Pushing back against Florida bans on Critical Race Theory and math books that authorities said would “indoctrinate” students with “dangerous and divisive concepts,” an atheist activist is calling on the state’s public schools to ban both the Bible and the dictionary on the grounds they contain subject matter and words that are not appropriate for children either, the Washington Examiner reports.

In justifying his request, Chaz Stevens cited Florida’s new law, House Bill 1467, which aims to give parents more say over what is taught in public schools.

Describing himself as a “stunt activist,” Stevens has petitioned more than 60 public school superintendents across Florida, arguing that the same measure applied to CRT and the math books should also be applied to the Bible and the dictionary.

The Bible, Stevens points out in his letters to the school districts, references rape, killings, murder, and smashing babies, among other subjects that are not age appropriate for school children. Meanwhile, the dictionary contains thousands of words that could give children “troubling” ideas about race and gender, he said.

“I’m just looking for just, you know, a fair shake like everybody else gets. You want to ban math books? You want to ban ‘Everyone Poops’? Well, that’s fine. But here’s the Bible,” Stevens told the Examiner. “Whatever metric you use to ban math books of all goddamned things, we will apply it to the Bible. You don’t have to turn very far in the Bible to find stuff that’s highly inappropriate for children.”

“With the constant babbling concerns about teaching Critical Race Theory, should we not take stock of the Bible’s position on slavery? I am concerned our young white students will read such passages and wake up to civilization’s sordid past,” Stevens said.
