(Worthy News) – Following the leaked draft US Supreme Court’s opinion in favor of overturning Roe v Wade and revoking federally legalized abortion, The Satanic Temple (TST) announced it is taking steps that will help women to undergo the “Satanic Abortion Ritual,” Church Leaders reports.

In a May 5 Twitter statement, TST said: “The news that Roe v Wade will likely be overturned is extremely distressing. The Satanic Temple (TST) has nevertheless positioned itself to protect religious abortion access for our members.”

While it is not yet clear what steps TST will take generally if Roe v Wade is ultimately overturned, the organization has already filed suit against Texas, arguing that the state’s new ‘heart beat’ law prohibiting abortion after six weeks is unconstitutional: Texas got around Roe v Wade by putting enforcement of the law into the hands of civilian whistleblowers who can sue anyone helping a woman get an abortion for up to $10,000.

“The Satanic Temple stands ready to assist any member that shares its deeply-held religious convictions regarding the right to reproductive freedom,” TST said in a website statement about the Texas law.

“Accordingly, we encourage any member who resides in Texas and wishes to undergo the Satanic Abortion Ritual within the first 24 weeks of pregnancy to contact The Satanic Temple so we may help them fight this law directly,” the TST statement said.
