NEW YORK (Worthy News) – Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, says he will resign as chief executive officer of social media network Twitter if he finds someone “foolish enough to take the job.”

The eccentric billionaire made the announcement after a Twitter poll he organized saw 57.5 percent of users voted “yes” to him quitting as CEO.

Musk, who recently purchased Twitter for $44 billion, had pledged he would abide by the poll’s outcome.

On Wednesday, the 51-year-old leader tweeted to the world: “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”

He responded to a tweet suggesting only users who were paying $8 or $11 for a Twitter Blue subscription should be able to vote in polls saying Twitter would “make that change.”

Calls at Wall Street in New York had been growing for Musk to step down. Even Tesla firm investors reportedly questioned whether his focus on Twitter distracted him from properly steering the electric vehicle business.

Musk admitted recently that he had too much on his plate. He said on Sunday, though, that there was no successor and that “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive.”

Musk’s moves are closely watched by those hoping to re-emerge on Twitter after being banned from the social platform under the previous leadership. Among them are also conservative and Christian opinion makers.
