KYIV/BUDAPEST (Worthy News) – One of Russia’s most extensive bombardments since the war began, was underway in Ukraine on Thursday with missiles fired from the sea and land, injuring several people, authorities said.

At least three people – including a 14-year-old girl – were taken to hospital after explosions hit the capital Kyiv, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said.

Residents also noticed blasts in the cities of Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, and Zhytomyr in the attacks that cut electricity in the west of the wartorn nation.

The regional leader of the southern province of Odesa, Maksym Marchenko, spoke of a “massive missile attack on Ukraine.”

With raid sirens blaring across the country, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro condemned the attacks on the social networking site Twitter.

“Senseless barbarism. These are the only words that come to mind seeing Russia launch another missile barrage at peaceful Ukrainian cities ahead of New Year,” Kuleba tweeted.

Ukraine’s military said 69 missiles were launched, with air defenses intercepting 54 of them. Earlier, presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said more than 120 missiles had been launched at civilian infrastructure.

Moscow earlier rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s 10-point peace plan. Instead, Russia insists that any proposal to end the battle for Ukraine must consider what it calls “today’s realities.”

Russia demands that Ukraine gives up four regions that Moscow has unilaterally declared part of Russia.
