(Worthy News) – The US has approved a further $3.075bn military aid package for Ukraine to continue to resist the Russian invasion, Army-Technology reports. This latest assistance package is the largest America has designated for Ukraine to date.

The package amounts to a $2.85bn drawdown from US Department of Defense stocks that will be sent directly to Ukraine and $225m in foreign military financing to boost long-term capacity and help modernize the Ukrainian military, the Guardian UK said.

At a White House briefing on the assistance package, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said: “The war is at a critical point, and we must do everything we can to help Ukrainians resist Russian aggression.”

For the first time since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February last year, the US will send Ukraine 50 M2-A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles, the Guardian reports. Bradleys are powerful, high-capacity armored vehicles equipped with a 25mm chain gun, a lighter machine gun, and two TOW anti-tank missiles. The new package will also include 138 high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles (Humvee), 100 M-113 armored personnel carriers, and 50 mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles.

Army Technology said in its report that, in addition to a range of other equipment, Ukrainian forces would receive sniper rifles, night-vision devices, machine guns, 2,000 anti-armor rockets, soldiers’ clothing, and ammunition for grenade launchers, along with other small arms, and spare parts in the new bloc of aid from the US.
