WASHINGTON/ OTTAWA (Worthy News) – The U.S. confirmed Sunday it shot down another unidentified flying object (UFO) in the fourth such military operation this month alone.

U.S. President Joe Biden, who had come under fire over his initial reluctance to shoot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon, ordered the UFO to be downed near Lake Huron, close to Canada.

Defense officials described the object as “unmanned, octagonal, and not a military threat.”

It was reportedly downed by an F-16 fighter jet at 14:42 local time on Sunday, according to officials familiar with the situation.

Washington said the object could have otherwise interfered with commercial air traffic as it traveled at 20,000 feet (6,100 meters).

It was first detected above sensitive sites in Montana on Saturday, according to the U.S. military.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he ordered a U.S. fighter jet to shoot down a UFO over Canada. On Friday, another unidentified object was shot down over Alaska on orders of U.S. President Joe Biden.

SERIES OF INCIDENTS

The operations mark the latest in a series of air incidents over North America.

It started late last month when an alleged Chinese spy balloon crossed Canada and the United States mainland.

That intensified a diplomatic rift with Beijing, which denied wrongdoing claiming the Chinese military-backed orb was nothing more than a “civilian aircraft” used for weather research.

However, on Sunday, questions were asked about the perceived slow response by the Biden administration to potential security threats.

Former U.S. House of Representatives legislator Peter Meijer, a Michigan Republican, already questioned whether the object shot down over Alaska, for instance, was an alien UFO. “Really hoping this ‘unidentified [flying] object’ was another spy balloon and not a legit UFO.”

He added: “The irony of confusing an alien spacecraft for a weather balloon would be amazing but not worth starting an interstellar conflict.”
