(Worthy News) – There have been ongoing recent discussions about holding a third summit between Israel and the Palestinian leadership, following talks held in Jordan in February, and Egypt in March, i24 News reports. The previous conferences involved delegations from Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) with assistance from US, Egyptian and Jordanian representatives, i24 News said.

The February meeting in Aqaba, Jordan focussed on diffusing tensions following a wave violence between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank, i24 News reports.

Israel and the Palestinian Authority then met again the following month in Egypt’s seaside resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, to focus on de-escalation and preventing further violence, i24 News reports. “The two sides agreed to establish a mechanism to curb and counter violence, incitement and inflammatory states and actions,” the summit communique said.

The Israeli delegations had included National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi, Internal Security Service Chief Ronen Bar, Government Operations Coordinator in the Territories General Ghassan Alian and Foreign Ministry Director General Ronen Levy, i24 News said.

The Al-Araby Al-Jadeed newspaper has reported that the next proposed summit will take place at the end of this month in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh. The conference will be attended by representatives from Jordan, Egypt and the US, as well as delegations from Israel and the PA.
