(Worthy News) – After months of decreasing approval ratings over his controversial judicial reform plans, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a massive boost of approval following the IDF’s successful Shield and Arrow operation against the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group last week, World Israel News (WIN) reports.

On the day that Operation Shield and Arrow began, Israel’s Channel 13 reported a poll showing that both Gantz and Lapid had higher approval ratings than Netanyahu: Gantz beat the PM by a huge 51-34% and Lapid beat him by 41-37%.

However, on Sunday, after the conclusion of Shield and Arrow, Israeli TV Channel 12 announced a poll showing Netanyahu was once again the “most preferred” for prime minister over the opposition leaders, WIN reports. Netanyahu received 38% over National Unity head Benny Gantz’s 37%, and 42% approval over that of opposition leader and head of Yesh Atid, Yair Lapid, who received just 28%.

In terms of the approval of parties, the poll showed that the current coalition would lose its majority and be reduced to 46 seats, while the opposition would easily form a government with 63 seats, WIN reports.

“Now that Operation Shield and Arrow is over for now, it remains to be seen whether Likud can maintain its jump in the polls, especially considering the strike that began Monday by dozens of municipal and regional councils in protest of a clause in this year’s budget that many see as unfair,” WIN noted in its report.
