(Worthy News) – A new survey has revealed that nearly half of Israeli Jews do not believe the Messiah is real and is coming, All Israel News reports. The survey was partly funded by the Christian media outlet All Israel News but was designed by two American Jewish professors who are not professing believers in Christ.

Researchers asked 1,200 Israelis the question: “Do you believe the Messiah is coming?” They found that only 54.9% of Israeli Jews said “yes,” while 45.1% said “no.” No participant answered “I don’t know.”

The survey found that 93.8% of Israelis who voted for right-wing Orthodox political parties do believe the Messiah will one day appear, All Israel News reports. Exactly reflecting the figure for the country overall, 54.9% of those voting for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party also said they expect the Messiah to appear.

However, only 22% of those who voted for opposition parties, including those led by Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz, believe the Messiah will one day appear on the earth.

Only 15% of Israelis who voted for left-wing parties including Labor and Meretz believe the Messiah will ever literally come to earth, All Israel News said.
