(Worthy News) – Nigeria’s government came under renewed fire for doing nothing to end the ongoing jihadist slaughter of Christians in the country after Fulani jihadist herdsmen murdered 46 Christians in Benue state earlier this month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. Islamic jihadists have murdered well over 50,000 Christians in Nigeria since 2009, killing 5,014 last year alone.

In the early hours of June 3, Fulani terrorist herdsmen raided Benue state’s predominantly Christian Mbakange village and murdered 28 people, MSN reports. Then, on June 4, Fulani jihadist herdsmen slaughtered another 18 Christians, six in each of Benue’s villages of Michihe, Achamegh and Mbagene Kpav.

In a press statement, the Shitile Development Association said: “Altogether, 46 Christians were killed by the terrorists in the two days of attacks on our communities. Most disturbing also is the fact that the identity of the perpetrators is known to security agencies and the Nigerian government, and yet nothing has been done to end this carnage.”

“As our people are fleeing, herders are occupying these areas and grazing freely on our farms,” the SDA statement continued. “Though due to the fear of general insecurity it is difficult to move from village to village to gather exact statistics, hordes of lives have been horrendously eliminated in several villages across the land, such that the whole land is thrown into wailing and mourning.”

Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
