WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – In an embarrassment to U.S. President Joe Biden, his son Hunter has been charged with three federal counts of firearm offenses as prosecutors renew their legal challenge against him.

The indictment filed in Delaware federal court on Thursday charges was something Hunter Biden had tried to prevent.

Eventually, he was officially charged with false statements related to the purchase of a firearm and the information required for this transaction, as well as the possession of a firearm by an “unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.”

David Weiss, the U.S. attorney for Delaware, was appointed to oversee the criminal probe into Hunter Biden as special counsel.

The indictment comes after a plea deal Hunter Biden had initially reached with federal prosecutors to resolve similar charges fell apart in July.

While the president was not directly implicated, observers say it could further complicate his re-election campaign.

COURT DATE UNCLEAR

It was still unclear when and where Biden’s initial court appearance will occur.

Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, suggested the charges had been influenced by “Republicans’ improper and partisan interference in this process.”

He said his client “did not violate the law” and that “his brief possession of an unloaded gun” never threatened public safety.

“But a prosecutor, with all the power imaginable, bending to political pressure presents a grave threat to our system of justice,” said Lowell.

Critics say the son of the president should be treated in the same way as ordinary Americans.
