(Worthy News) – At least 3,000 Christians from all over the world are expected to arrive in Jerusalem this weekend for the annual 7-day Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) celebrations hosted by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), CBN News reports. This year, Sukkot begins at sundown on Friday, September 29, and ends at sundown on October 6.

Delegations of Christians from Brazil, Fiji, Germany, Ivory Coast, Europe, Africa, Norway, Philippines, Sweden, Egypt, Turkey, the UK, the US, and Canada will be in attendance, among other believers from many other countries, CBN reports.

“The participating Christians believe they are forerunners helping to fulfill the biblical prophecy delivered by the prophet Zechariah more than 2,500 years ago,” CBN said in its reports. The prophecy reads: ” And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” (Zechariah 14:16 NKJV)

The ICEJ will put on a full program of activities, including a tour of the Land, praise and worship, local guest speakers, and the highly popular March of the Nations through Jerusalem, CBN reports. The March is a particularly joyous event at which the Christians wear national costumes, wave their countries’ flags and demonstrate their love for Israel.

ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Büelher said in a statement: “We trust that as [the visiting Christians] encounter Israel up close, they will return to their home countries with a deeper love for this nation and a fresh inspiration from God, in keeping with Isaiah’s prophecy that the word of the Lord will go forth from Jerusalem.”
