(Worthy News) –  A campus watchdog group has warned that staff at Nigeria’s Kaduna State University assisted in the kidnapping and forced conversion to Islam of a female Christian student, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

Twenty-year-old Dorcas Adedayo Adekanola, was a first-year chemistry student at the university and an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Students when she disappeared last month, MSN reports. According to a statement by the university’s Campus Mission Watch (CMW) group, Dorcas had been acting strangely prior to her disappearance, “always looking scared.”

Dorca’s family alerted the school authorities and the commissioner of police to her disappearance, CMW told reporters. On September 21, Dorcas was seen on a bus belonging to the MAJLIS Muslim Sisters group, an organization that seeks to pressure young women to become Islamists. Dorcas has not been seen since.

“[The Majlis] group is made up of highly placed and influential female staff in the university,” CMW explained. “Some of them are professors, directors, senior lecturers from academic and non-academic cadres,” they said. “They are well coordinated and professionally structured. They have agents at the top management level, directorate levels, faculty levels, department levels, and even at the Student Union levels.” CMW said the group also has the tacit support of Muslim leaders in Kaduna state and the Muslim-controlled state government.

The university CSO referred her case to the Kaduna state commissioner of police, but Dorcas remains in captivity, MSN said.

Nigeria ranked number one in the world last year for both the killings and abductions of Christians by Islamic jihadists.
