(Worthy News) – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has employed artificial intelligence (AI) to carry out precision strikes on over 11,000 terrorist targets in Gaza since October 7 according to a senior IDF intelligence officer, the Jerusalem Post reported.

During the initial day of the invasion last week, the IDF effectively employed cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) to identify and eliminate 150 tunnel targets within a single day, according to the IDF intelligence officer.

Unlike previous operations, the current strategy relies on real-time targeting where AI, in conjunction with the work of hundreds of IDF intelligence officials, has resulted in the successful generation and immediate execution of approximately 90% of the targets.

Although IDF intelligence had been integrating AI for some time, this marked the debut of the AI target bank unit in an extensive ground invasion scenario, where multiple units operate concurrently in hostile urban settings.

This intelligence AI unit has played a crucial role in the early successes of the IDF by uncovering the majority of Hamas ambushes before they can be sprung on advancing IDF ground forces. The unit has had to adapt in real-time to learn new Hamas tactics, including adjusting its strategies in cases where previous tactics for tunnel destruction, as seen in the May 2021 Gaza conflict, yielded only partial success.
