Thousands Chant ‘Death to America!’, ‘Death to Israel!’ In Iran

TEHRAN (Worthy News) – Thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran on Saturday chanting “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” just days after Iran’s supreme leader made those slogans official policy.

They gathered on the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy in Iran’s capital while condemning Washington’s support for Israel as it waged war against Hamas in Gaza.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says that over 9,000 people have been killed in the Strip during the war, as Israel seeks to destroy Hamas’s military and governance capacities.

However, figures issued by Hamas, condemned as a terrorist organization by Israel and most of its allies, cannot be independently verified.

Israel suggests that among the victims are “Hamas terrorists” and gunmen killed in Israel and in Gaza, and the victims of Gaza “terror groups’ missile misfires.”

However, the demonstrators rallying outside the former US embassy in Tehran clearly disagreed with several burning Israeli and American flags.

It nearly resembled the protests after the 1979 Islamic Revolution toppled the Western-backed shah when Iranian students stormed the U.S. embassy in Iran’s capital and took more than 50 Americans hostage for 444 days.

STAGE ORGANIZED

Saturday’s rally, organized by the state, came as the Israel-Hamas war entered its fourth week.

The war began after some 1,400 people in Israel, mostly civilians, were slaughtered and over 240 taken hostage by what Israel said were “3,000 Hamas and other terrorists” bursting Israel on October 7.

Saturday’s gathering came after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared the “death to America!” slogan Iran’s policy as Washington acts “against Iran” and supports Israel.

Khamenei, who seeks Israel’s destruction, told students in Tehran this week: “The situation between America and Iran is this: When you chant ‘Death to America!’ it is not just a slogan, it is a policy.”

He stressed that “if it were not for America’s support if it were not for the support of U.S. weapons, the corrupt and artificial Zionist regime would have been destroyed in the first week,” referring to Israel. “It would have collapsed. The Americans are behind this.”
