(Worthy News) – A senior Hamas official has announced that the terrorists’ goal in massacring 1,400 mainly civilian Israelis on Oct. 7 was to create a continuous state of war on Israel’s border and draw worldwide attention to the Palestinian cause, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

Speaking from Qatar during an interview with the New York Times that was published on Wednesday, Hamas politburo official Khalil al-Hayya said of the Oct. 7 attack: “What could change the equation was a great act, and without a doubt, it was known that the reaction to this great act would be big.We had to tell people that the Palestinian cause would not die.”

In addition to the killings, Hamas kidnapped at least 240 civilians, including young children and senior citizens to Gaza. The 3,000 terrorists who stormed Israel’s southern border also set fire to homes, raped women Among those murdered were entire families and babies in their beds, and 260 young people gunned down and blown up at a festival in the desert.

“We succeeded in putting the Palestinian issue back on the table, and now no one in the region is experiencing calm,” Al-Hayya said, asserting that the Oct. 7 terror attack was a success.

“I hope that the state of war with Israel will become permanent on all the borders, and that the Arab world will stand with us,” Hamas media consultant Taher El-Nounou said in a separate statement to the NYT.
