TEL AVIV/JERUSALEM (Worthy News) – Thousands of anti-war protesters rallied in Tel Aviv, Israel’s economic hub, calling for a ceasefire and the release of some 240 Israeli and foreign hostages held by Hamas.

They marched through the streets on the 33rd day of Israeli attacks in Gaza, which began after Hamas fighters killed about 1,200 people in Israel, including babies and toddlers, while kidnapping many.

The Hamas-run health ministry says more than 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza since – of whom more than 4,500 were children since Israel launched its retaliatory strikes.

Demonstrators carried signs reading, “Get them out of hell,” “Israelis for ceasefire,” “War has no winners,” and “Only peace talks will solve this.”

They also condemned the Israeli government for the way it is dealing with the crisis.

Many of the protesters on Saturday were friends and family members of the captives and demanded their immediate return. “Mr Prime Minister, cabinet members, do not talk to me about conquering, do not talk to me about flattening [Gaza]. Do not talk at all. Just take action … bring them home now,” Noam Perry, whose father was abducted from the town of Nir Oz, told the crowd.

Anti-War Protesters Express Rage

“They ask us who our rage is directed at, and it is all of humanity … but mainly, those who are responsible for us, those who have a contract with us,” added Jack Levy, another protester.

A demonstrator agreed, holding up a banner depicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with the words “impeachment now” during the protest at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

Outside Israel, pro-Palestinian protesters also took to the streets from America to Australia.

In Australia, pro-Palestine protesters rallied at Port Botany Boat Ramp in Sidney, Australia, saying: “Stop the Genocide in Gaza.”

In Germany’s capital Berlin, demonstrators carried placards reading: “Oh sorry, you are tired of seeing it – they are tired of living it” and “Palestine is tired of bearing the consequences of German Nazi crimes against 6 million Jews.”

The so-called “solidarity rally” with Palestinians was held at Oranienplatz Square in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district despite concerns by authorities over rising antisemitism in Germany.

Pro-Palestinian Protests Worldwide

Thousands also gathered in Paris, France, to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and express support for Palestinians in the enclave.

And a large crowd of women and children were seen marching “against Israel’s bombardments” on the Gaza Strip in Ankara, Turkey.

Hundreds of thousands gathered in London against Israel, prompting violent counter-protests in which some 100 people were detained, while thousands protested against the war in Barcelona, Spain, and in Brussels, Belgium.

The United States also saw massive pro-Palestine rallies: Thousands marched in New York and near U.S. President Joe Biden’s house in Delaware to demand a ceasefire in the rapidly escalating Israel-Hamas war.
