(Worthy News) – In alleged Israeli airstrikes that targeted sites near Damascus, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed two of its officers were killed, the IRGC announced on Saturday.

The IRGC stated that Mohammad Ali Atai Shoorcheh and Panah Taghizadeh were declared “martyred” during an advisory mission in Syria, attributing their deaths to the “Zionists.”

According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the airstrikes originated from the Golan Heights, and the Syrian air defenses reportedly intercepted most of the missiles. The statement, citing an unnamed military official, indicated that the strikes resulted in only “material losses.”

The Syrian Capital Voice news site disclosed that the alleged Israeli airstrikes focused on locations in Set Zaynab, Aqraba, and Hudzajra, all associated with Iranian-backed forces.

The Capital Voice further stated that among the targeted sites was one utilized by Iranian back militias for storing arms shipments from Iran, destined for militias in Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A third site that came under attack housed an advanced air system, in proximity to an airbase near Damascus known to host Iranian military officials and a weapons depot, according the Capitol Voice.

The Israel Defense Force did not comment about any operations in Syria over the weekend, which come as Israel also fights against Hamas terrorists in Gaza and, increasingly, Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The IDF has conducted hundreds of strikes within the government-controlled regions of war-torn Syria in recent years. These operations often focus on Hezbollah and other terror groups supported by Iran. However, the IDF seldom publicly acknowledges or discusses these operations.
