Nigeria: Slaughter of Christians Continues, 8 Murdered in Plateau State

nigeria worthy ministries(Worthy News) – Fulani Islamic terrorists killed eight more Christians in Nigeria’s Plateau state last month, Morning Star News (MSN) reports. Nigeria leads the world for the number of Christians murdered on account of their faith: well over 50,000 have been slaughtered since the Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in 2009.

One Christian was killed in Hilltop, Bokkos County in Plateau state on Nov. 15, MSN reports. “At about 7 p.m, Fulani herdsmen attacked the Hilltop area of Bokkos and killed one Christian,” resident Timothy Joseph told MSN in a text message. “One other Christian was injured during the incident,” Joseph said.

On Nov. 30, Fulani herdsmen and other terrorists attacked Puka and Dinter villages in Mangu County Plateau and killed seven Christians, MSN reports. “Fulani herdsmen together with a group of bandits attacked two of our villages, Puka and Dinter, where they killed seven of our Christian villagers,” Yohanna Markus of Puka village told MSN in a text message. “Aside from those killed, who include five men and a woman, many other Christians were injured and are currently being treated for gunshot wounds and machete cuts.”

Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted. According to the Open Doors international Christian aid organization, last year saw 5,014 Christians murdered in Nigeria, plus 4,726 abducted, and thousands sexually assaulted or physically or mentally abused.

“Christians in Nigeria suffer persecution from an ingrained agenda of enforced Islamisation, which is particularly prevalent in the north of the country and has gradually been spreading south,” Open Doors explains in a website statement. “The violence is most pervasive in the north, where militant groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, and Fulani militants inflict murder, physical injury, abduction, and sexual violence on their victims. Christians are dispossessed of their land and their means of livelihood. Many live as internally displaced people or refugees,” Open Doors says.
