(Worthy News) – Aiming to force their version of Islamic law and control on northeastern Nigeria, Boko Haram Islamic terrorists slaughtered 15 Christians, wounded two others, and kidnapped a young girl during Jan. 1 attacks on two villages in Borno state, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

Northeastern Nigeria has been plagued by Boko Haram terror attacks since 2009, including the abduction of 276 mostly Christian high school girls from Chibok, Borno state in 2014.

On Jan. 1, Boko Haram terrorists attacked Gartamawa village, Chibok County in Borno state, killing 12 Christians and wounded two, MSN reports. The terrorists then went to nearby Tsiha village where they murdered three Christians and kidnapped another. A local resident told MSN that the person abducted was a “young Christian” girl.

“The Christians in Tsiha were killed in an ambush by the terrorists as the Christians were returning to their community from Gartamawa village, after attending the funeral of those killed hours earlier at Gartamawa village,” area resident Mary Barde told MSN.

Nahum Daso, spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, said in a press statement that the attacks were carried out by Boko Haram, MSN reports. “The insurgents bearing deadly weapons attacked Gartamawa and Tsiha villages,” Daso said. “In all, 15 persons were killed and two others were injured.”

Ruled by an Islamic government which has done next to nothing to protect the country’s Christians from ongoing genocidal campaigns by Islamic terrorists, Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries where Christians are persecuted.
