(Worthy News) – A hundred thousand young people in the United States marked the new year by packing out churches, auditoriums, and stadiums at Gospel events across the country, which Christian leaders have described as evidence of true spiritual revival, CBN News reports.

In a Jan. 6 social media post, evangelist Matt Brown, founder of Think Eternity, wrote: “Well over 100,000 young people gathered to seek God over New Year and to ring in 2024 with revival.” Brown said 10,000 people had attended Cross Con in Kentucky earlier this month, 13,500 attended Strength to Stand in Tennessee during December and January gatherings, and 12,000 attended Hearts on Fire conference in November, CBN reports.

CBN News itself joined Brown in reporting that: “More than 55,000 young adults gathered in Atlanta, Georgia [earlier this month] to worship Jesus, delve into God’s Word, and learn how to be light in their generation at the Passion 2024 conference.

In a statement to CBN in July last year, Shane Pruitt, national Next Gen director with the North American Mission Board (NAMB), said he believes that the trials associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have caused young people to seek the Lord more urgently. “The pandemic didn’t create new problems for Gen Z, but I think it poured gas on some problems that were already there,” Pruitt said. “You have a whole generation who has come to the end of themselves at a much earlier age. They are looking for hope and they are looking for answers.”

“We get to slide in with the gospel and say, ‘The hope you are looking for, the truth you’re looking for actually has a name, and His name is Jesus’,” Pruitt noted.
