(Worthy News) – Fulani herdsmen and other terrorists slaughtered 10 more Nigerian Christians during coordinated attacks on three villages in central Nigeria’s Benue state on Jan. 7, Morning Star News (MSN) reports.

On Jan. 7, three groups of Fulani terrorists simultaneously attacked Mcia, Arufu and Chembe villages in Logo County, Benue state, at about 8:30 p.m., MSN reports.

“The terrorists invaded as the villagers were sleeping in their houses,” Terlumun Unande told MSN in a text message. “The attackers moved from house to house, shot and killed 10 Christians, while scores were injured. Many more were displaced from the three villages as they had to flee in order to escape.”

Confirming the attacks, Roman Catholic priest Michael Mchia told MSN: “It’s disheartening that these attacks have been ongoing without abating. In similar attacks last year, 12 Christians were killed in attacks by terrorists and herdsmen against these Christian communities.”

“More believers are killed for their faith in Nigeria each year, than everywhere else in the world combined,” the Open Doors international Christian advocacy group reports in a website statement. “The attacks are often brutal in nature and can involve destruction of properties, abductions for ransom, sexual violence and death. Believers are stripped of their livelihoods and driven from their homes, leaving a trail of grief and trauma,” Open Doors said.

With well over 52,000 Christians slaughtered, many thousands kidnapped, mutilated and/or raped, and millions displaced by Islamic terrorists since 2009, Nigeria ranks 6th on the US Open Doors World Watch List 2023 of the top 50 countries.
