(Worthy News) – Over 7.2 million illegal immigrants have entered the United States under President Joe Biden’s administration according statistics provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This figure exceeds the population totals of 36 individual states within the country.

According to CBP data, there have been 7,298,486 encounters along the southwest land border during the Biden administration, and this staggering figure does not include the estimated 1.8 million “gotaways” which evaded law enforcement.

Since the start of fiscal year 2024 in October, CBP has recorded close to a million encounters, amounting to a total of 961,537. Given the current rate, 2024 is on track to surpass last year’s record of illegal immigration, which was established with 2,475,669 crossings at the southwest border.

The magnitude of the number of illegal immigrants coming into the United States can better understood when considering that the number exceeds the population of 36 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

When viewed in terms of cities, this figure would become the second-largest city in America, trailing only behind New York.

The surge in illegal immigration can partially be explained that illegal migrants to the perception among undocumented migrants that, with the under the Biden administration, they would not be subject to deportation for entering the country unlawfully.

“They have sent the signal that if you come to the U.S. illegally, if you abuse the asylum system, you’ll be released into the country and allowed to remain here, in most cases given work authorization,” Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) told Fox News.

“Even if you neglect to show up for your hearings, the odds of you being removed are negligible. The president claims he doesn’t have the authority to enforce our laws. He absolutely does. He is deliberately not enforcing those laws,” Mehlman said.

In a historic move last week, the House of Representatives impeached a sitting cabinet member for the first time in U.S. history, targeting Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The impeachment proceedings brought forth two articles against Mayorkas, accusing him of “refusing to comply with Federal immigration laws” and “violating the public trust.”
