(Worthy News) – Israel’s Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant has told US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin that “time is running out” to stop Iran, the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism, from obtaining a nuclear bomb, the Times of Israel (TOI) reports.

Gallant made his statement during a meeting with Austin at the Pentagon in Washington on Monday, June 25.

In a statement made during his visit to Washington, Gallant emphasized that Israel will “never forget” the support offered by the US Biden Administration following the Oct. 7 attack on the Jewish state by Hamas. However, Gallant stressed, the US must follow through on its commitment to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb.

Iran, Gallant asserted, is “the greatest threat to the future of the world” and the future of the Middle East. “Time is running out,” he added. “Now is the time to realize the commitment of American administrations over the years to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons,” he said.

Concerning the war against Hamas in Gaza, Gallant called on the US to help Israel in securing the release of all the remaining Israeli and foreign hostages and to “end” Hamas’ reign of terror in Gaza. “We are working closely together to achieve an agreement, but we must also discuss readiness for every possible scenario,” Gallant said.

“Today we are at the crossroads,” Gallant noted. “I’m here to discuss our common goals: Ensuring the security of the State of Israel and projecting the power ties between our countries,” he said.
