Iran Suffering Of Massive Cyber Attack

JERUSALEM/TEHRAN (Worthy News) – Iran’s supreme leader said Wednesday that Tehran shouldn’t walk away from pledges to attack Israel after one of the largest cyber attacks on agencies linked to the Islamic Republic’s government.

Ali Khamenei vowed Wednesday that any “non-tactical” retreat – whether military, political, or economic – would invite “divine wrath.” He referred to the Koran, deemed a holy book by Muslims.

“Governments that yield to the demands of today’s dominant powers, regardless of the size or strength of the nations they represent, could defy these pressures,” he said.

They could “draw the strength of their people and accurately assess their adversaries’ true, unembellished capabilities,” Khamenei stressed.

His comments came as Iran recovered Wednesday from a massive cyber attack that impacted computer systems, including the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and several other banks.

The opposition-linked Iran International outlet said the Iranian regime has been trying “to cover up the attack for several hours.”

CREDIT CARD DETAILS

Hackers reportedly obtained bank details and credit card details of millions of Iranians.

Iranian sources familiar with the case said the attack also caused widespread disruptions in Iran’s banking system.

It unfolded while Iran was preparing for its cyber attack against Israel following the recent killing by suspected Israeli forces of Hamas’ political leader Ismail Haniyeh assassination in Tehran.

A special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for Haniyeh’s security when he was killed is actively pursuing suspects and has made “numerous arrests,” Iranian sources said.

The surprise assassination came on the inauguration day of Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian.

Despite vowing revenge immediately after the death of Haniyeh, over two weeks have passed without Iran making a move since then.

PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE

Pro-government media and others claim the delay is part of a “psychological warfare” strategy against Israel and its allies.

The Iran International outlet said the “Iranian regime has been trying to cover up the attack for several hours.”

Iran’s delayed reaction to the July 31 assassination fueled widespread concern in the region.
